Our Q&A With Triomph Fitness Co-Owner Jack Gordon
What made you open Triomph Fitness?
We wanted to be different from conventional “gyms.” ‘We strive to provide our clients with the knowledge, encouragement and the motivation to live a healthy and energetic lifestyle.
We also wish to inspire our Brooklyn community to attain optimum health and stress free living. This includes nutrition!
What have been some highlights as owner?
We’re going into our 6th year of business, that’s definitely one! Helping clients make positive changes in their lives is a major one. Many times we don’t realize (or take for granted), the small things that seem so big to others. The best way to explain is to have you read a few of our client testimonials.
Do you think food plays a part in fitness. strength and health?
Definitely! Exhibit ‘A’ is here.
30% fitness and 70% diet! We preach this ALL the time! Fuel the machine!
[Triomph offers nutritional counseling in addition to being a gym]
Why did you decide to have Triomph become a Nextdoorganics pick-up spot?
All of the above! People don’t know ‘where to go’ for proper nutrition, veggies, fruit, etc…
There is also the misconception that organic or fresh means expen$ive! [Hosting Nextdoorganics pick ups] is a great way to ‘practice what we preach.’
We preach that nutrition is a true component of fitness, health, and wellness. So now, we can say we walk the walk and talk the talk by being a pick-up location, and having the CSA as one of our offerings for our clients and community.

What have been some highlights of being a Nextdoorganics pick up spot?
The thrill when Triomph Fitness clients show they can kill two birds with one stone: workout, then grab their Nextdoorganics bag and take it home to make a healthy meal.
Also, the excitement that Triomph Fitness clients show at the various (and sometimes very different) varieties in their bag.
Lastly, it helps us stand apart from other facilities.
As a business owner, is community involvement important to you? Why?
We try to put our hands in as much as we can that is beneficial to both parties.
My business partner speaks at local schools, I have been training the Brooklyn Rugby Team during their off season. We have many other oars in the water, but I’d be here all day writing! As stated in our mission statement (see first answer) we are all about our community.
So much so, that we searched for a new location for almost a year. The biggest fear (on all parts) was that we would move far away, out of the neighborhood. As fate would have it, we moved exactly one street away, and I believe the latitude and longitude are pretty much the same! We opened in 2009…during the major economy crash. Here we are still. That says it all. Had we not had the support of the community (and had we not supported the community), we would not be here today. We’ve not only lasted, we’ve thrived thanks to the constant support of the community.
